Windows 8 也有 App Store，並有獨立開發團隊

即便幾個月前大家就從  Windows 8流出的截圖中發現 App Store 的存在，不過當時微軟相當嘴硬什麼也不肯透露；最近微軟推出  官方部落格，Windows 總裁 Steven Sinofsky 在文章介紹中提到 App Store 團隊，間接承認有App Store 的存在。

微軟在官方新開闢頻道，專門介紹Windows 8的大小事。Windows總裁Steven Sinofsky在第一篇文章，其中出現了App Store這個團隊，等於是證實近來謠傳Windows 8將會有App Store的消息；這也是繼Apple的OS X Lion外另一個將會出現線上應用程式商店的作業系統。先前微軟曾盡力避免Apple將App Store註冊為商標，微軟認為App Store這個名詞太過普遍，如果成為註冊商標，會讓其他業者在介紹線上應用程式商店時碰上難題。

Steven Sinofsky還提到Windows 8打破以往的開發模式(當時有人認為Windows 7團隊太過龐大)，採用相對獨立的小組團隊進行，這次共分為35個開發團隊，每個團隊有25~40位開發者。這些開發團隊被分類在7大類別中：fundamentals、devices and networking、core OS、developer experience、user experience、web services、engineering system，類似於Windows Live群組的模式(有Hotmail, Messenger, Skydrive, Photos, LiveID等)；IE團隊則是另外一個獨立的團隊，不過也和Windows 8團隊有密切配合。

團隊除了進行開發之外，還必須兼任測試、管理的工作。團隊大部分位在美國，也有顧及到本地化的考量，作業系統將會有超過100種語言。
