Chrome 20 低調發表，Google 承認它是造成 MacBook Air 2012 當機主因

Google Chrome 在上周 Google I/O 2012 前夕低調升級到20版，Gizmodo 編輯卻發現他的 MacBook Air 2012 安裝新版 Chrome 後頻頻出現當機。Google 後來承認真的是他們家瀏覽器導致 OS X 新款 Intel HD 4000 晶片出現系統崩潰，並將發佈更新修改此狀況。

Chrome 20 正式版(20.0.1132.43)在上周低調登場，主要是提升安全性更新，共修正20個安全漏洞()，引擎也換上新版 V8 引擎 (3.10.8.19)。因為沒有在介面、功能上作出明顯改變，因此多數人可能還不知道自己的版號又被升上去了。

但有趣的是， 網站編輯使用新款 MacBook Air 2012 卻頻頻出現當機，懷疑 Chrome 20 是造成當機的主因。Google 後來向  證實的確是 Chrome 瀏覽器所造成的問題，在 OS X系統與特定硬體下使用 GPU 加速時會造成當機，Chrome 已發佈更新(20.0.1132.47)暫時停止特定硬體的 GPU 加速功能。

"We have identified a leak of graphics resources in the Chrome browser related to the drawing of plugins on Mac OS X. Work is proceeding to find and fix the root cause of the leak.

The  is causing a kernel panic on Mac hardware containing the Intel HD 4000 graphics chip (e.g. the new Macbook Airs). Radar bug number 11762608 has been filed with Apple regarding the kernel panics, since it should not be possible for an application to trigger such behavior.

While the root cause of the leak is being fixed, we are temporarily disabling some of Chrome's GPU acceleration features on the affected hardware via an auto-updated release that went out this afternoon (Thursday June 28). We anticipate further fixes in the coming days which will re-enable many or all of these features on this hardware."

上述大意是說 Google 已經確認 Chrome 的繪圖外掛在 OS X 系統上有繪圖資源洩漏的問題。資源洩漏會導致 Intel HD 4000 繪圖晶片與 Mac 硬體 (如新款 Macbook Air )發生系統核心崩潰(kernel panic)。Google 也提交 11762608 錯誤代碼給 Apple ，因為正常來講它並不會造成這種狀況。Google 已經在美國時間6月28日透過自動更新暫時停止受影響硬體的 GPU 加速功能，並預計在未來幾天內修正後、再次提供 GPU 加速功能。
