我們知道Chrome瀏覽器與Google的眾多服務之間可以說是緊密結合在一起，幾乎兩者都離不開彼此。如果你曾經帶著你的筆電到中國的話，這句話你會特別有感觸，你會發現到了中國之後你的Chrome瀏覽器功力至少廢掉七成，跟在國內使用的體驗完全不一樣。
不過，撇開綁定帳號來說，Chrome瀏覽器單純就瀏覽器來說，到底使用起來如何呢？尤其是現在隱私問題也漸漸被重視，有些人就是不想要讓自己的瀏覽器跟Google或是其它帳號或是服務綁在一起，又該如何呢？如果你覺得Google現在的服務無孔不入已經夠恐怖了，不希望自己的瀏覽器也淪陷，那可以怎麼做呢？
舉例來說，或許你會認為不要用自己的帳號登入Chrome瀏覽器就好了吧？不過，其實Chrome瀏覽器與Google之間的綁定還不止於此，就算你沒有登入你的Google帳號，但是你在Chrome瀏覽器的網址列（omnibox）輸入要搜尋的關鍵字，它還是會馬上跑出一些候選字，這些還是因為與Google綁定的關係。
「Ungoogled Chromium」這個瀏覽器就是基於這樣的議題下誕生的，他移除了所有Google相關的功能。改用了使用號稱最注重保護使用者隱私權的「 DuckDuckGo 」搜尋引擎來取代原本的Google Search。
你可以在github上下載「Ungoogled Chromium」，「Ungoogled Chromium」是從2016年開始開發的，除了移除與Youtube綁定的各項服務之外，它的開發宗旨在於承諾不監控、不記錄使用者的搜尋內容。除此之外，它的介面與Chrome則是一模一樣。對於熟悉Chrome瀏覽器的使用者來說，使用它來上網會是一種似曾相識卻又陌生的新體驗。
